Missing

So the last few slides of my presentation did not show.... still not sure what caused it, but what can you do. I decided to post them here. :)
I've already posted the picture of my cat transforming into my boyfriend, so I won't post it again. :)
Of course I kept some of the bests for last.

ACEOs

ACEO= "Collectible little pieces of art. An ACEO is always two and one-half inches by three and one-half inches. That is the size of a standard sports trading card. The rule about size is the ONLY rule in the ACEO world. An ACEO can be created in any medium the artist desires: paint, colored pencils, ink, etc. There are even ACEOs made from wood, clay, fabric, and metal." (Read more here)

Here are some cards I've made, alot were in my presentation for school but I added some more.
I like making them, but sometimes it takes me awhile to get inspired and putting everything together. Now with summer coming I hope to make alot more, it's been awhile.

Octopus!

I really enjoyed every one's presentations in my art seminar class! It's cool to see every one's work so far and I can't wait to see them all when they're finished. I was pretty nervous presenting because I don't know what to say....but I think I did better than I thought. I'm more comfortable around everyone in this class than any other so I think that helped.

This is my octopi charcoal drawing. I like this piece and it's from my Drawing I class, which is one of the first classes I took at CCRI. I know some people wanted to see it here on my blog. :)

Artist Statement

Here's what I'm thinking so far on how I want my artist statement to go:

Inspiration for me comes straight from the heart. I'm most inspired by emotions that I feel at certain times. Foremost, I'm a hopeless romantic and fuel my art on different forms of love, therefore I'm inspired by friends and family (including my cats). I have really strong friendships and a loving boyfriend.
Fueled by my emotions that I receive from my daily life from happiness to sadness, I get inspired by music and television. I'm a movie addict which makes me feel connected to the types of films I'm watching which pours through in the art that I make. My favorite types of movies are comedies and also the mythical, fantasy type genre such as the movie The Dark Crystal.
I feel myself favoring colors like purples, blues, and greens which feel very mythical and magical to me. For example, I've been a fan of Amy Brown who watercolors hundreds of fairies and dragons, among other creatures in her artwork.
Different eras in history also inspire me, from clothing, hair, make-up. I really love the Renaissance, knights and princesses, and the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I feel like different periods of history present certain moods and tones to a piece.
As far as music goes I become very inspired while listening to The Beatles. They hold so many different meanings and emotions for everyone. For me, their music makes me feel like I can do anything. On the other hand, I like heavy metal and rock and that music can produce different emotions in me that affect my work.
All of these factors affect all aspects of my art, from photos and drawings, to my jewelry and collage. I want people to feel something when they view my art. I think I make my art to look pretty, I always want it to hold some sort of beauty to it.

Let me know what you guys think. Should it be more structured as far as an introduction and conclusion, like an essay? I have a lot more examples as far as different music, movies, and artists that I like, should I include more?

Creative Muse Where are You?!

So, how much art work did I get done this week? ummm slim to none. =( This spring break went by way too fast. After I drew the English flag on my nails I haven't done anything creative. Now I've been sick since Friday so I haven't felt like doing anything at all. Atleast I got sick at the end of the week. I had a productive week visiting with friends and catching up on sleep. That was all good. I hope everyone else had a nice week off. Not really ready to go back into school mode, but we're almost done with this semester! Crazy. Well I do have a 2D project I should go finish...

Came across this artist Cathy Peng on Etsy. She has really cute stuff.

Bead Fiesta

Yesterday my mom and I went to a bead show called Bead Fiesta at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Warwick, RI. There is an upcoming show in MA. There was alot of different vendors there with beads. One in particular was selling her handmade lampwork glass beads. The artist goes by Kim V Glass and I've made her the artist of the week. =) All her pieces were so beautiful and you could tell a lot of hard work went into them (hence they were a little pricey). But I figured it was worth the money since each piece is different and you'll never find any like them. I bought these two beads since I couldn't decide between the two. Today I put them on chains. I've always wanted to make my own beads from glass. I'm trying to find a class I could take...maybe even if RISD offered a class over the summer.

I also joined Twitter yesterday after my friend became addicted. It's actually pretty cool. So feel free to follow me if you have one, or think about signing up! The link is on the side panel under other sites I'm on.
