Thoughts

I've been thinking alot lately about where I want to go...what I want to do...all those questions we constantly have on our minds. Art seminar has really been making me explore these thoughts and feelings. I've been leaning towards photography, like fashion and for weddings. But my friend recently visited a tattoo shop her neighbor owns and she showed him her portfolio. He told her he'd take her on as an apprentice. I'm so excited for her. But it got me thinking about my own interest in the tattoo world. I've always loved tattoos and that culture. My dream was to become a tattoo artist, but over the last few years its just that, a dream. I always put it down and say I could never do it... I'd be too nervous, and what if I mess up?

But my friend has really inspired me...and if she can show them her portfolio, why can't I? I always come up with a thousand reasons why not to do something. Whats the point of having dreams and goals and trying to live life? I should be going after what I want. I need to try to not be so afraid. And if I'm that bad, of course they're not going to let me tattoo people, so why not atleast try?

Local Rockstars

First of many....but this is a photo I edited quickly of my friend Jim. He played in a show this past Sunday at Jerky's in Providence. He along with my boyfriend play in the band Black Vendetta. I really enjoy taking photos of them. The batch I took weren't my best...but I liked this shot and decided to see what I could do with it.

2D Project Photos

The first image is of the objects that I chose for my pattern. The next two images are the layouts that I made. I'm finishing up the finished product today with pen and ink. Hopefully I'll be able to load that image up later today.
This is one of the first projects I've had to do alot that involved alot of tracing...usually in all the artwork that I do I free hand. So this has been different tracing over all my work again and again. I hope the end result comes out as well as I want it to.

Little Update

In my 2D class we're working on a rhythm and repeat pattern project. We're taking objects of a certain theme and grouping them together to form patterns. Then that pattern is put in the shape of a necktie or sock. I chose to use photography as a theme and drew a 35mm camera, tripod, film, and a flower design. At first I was worried (as usual) I would not make an interesting pattern, but today in class I cut out my objects I drew and played around with them. I think I have a nice design going and I'm really excited about this project! It's going really well, and I plan to put up some pictures soon of the process. :)

Vishnu Drawing

I've always had an interest in Hindu gods. The visual pieces of them are always full of vibrant colors and beaded jewelry. I like alot of Indian culture, mostly Henna art. I decided to draw this picture of one of the gods Vishnu. I edited the first picture. And I was thinking of making them into earrings.

Today I went into Michael's Arts and Crafts and they had four glass pendants of the different Hindu gods and I was pretty surprised. I want to try to make pendants myself to make necklaces. We'll see how that goes...
